Protecting your personal data is important to us. We process personal data exclusively in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and — where applicable — the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This website serves to present the novel “Der Ursprung der Nacht” and its author. No personal data is collected beyond the scope described below.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Hostpoint AG, Neue Jonastrasse 60, 8640 Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland (hostpoint.ch). When you visit the website, information transmitted by your browser is automatically stored in so-called server log files. This includes in particular:

  • the IP address of the accessing device
  • the date and time of access
  • the name and URL of the retrieved file
  • the amount of data transferred
  • the browser and operating system used
  • the previously visited page (referrer URL)

This data is not merged with other data sources. Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the technically error-free presentation and the security of this website. For security reasons, the log files are stored for a limited period and then deleted.

A data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with the host, ensuring data processing that complies with data protection law. The servers are located in Switzerland, for which the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision; an adequate level of data protection is therefore ensured.

4. Cookies and tracking

This website does not set any cookies for analytics or marketing purposes and does not use any tracking or audience measurement services. Fonts are delivered locally from this website's server; no connection to third-party servers is established.

Your chosen display setting (light or dark mode) is stored exclusively locally in your browser (localStorage) and is not transmitted to us.

5. Contacting us

If you contact us by email, the data you provide (your email address and the content of your message) is stored for the purpose of processing your enquiry. Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. We do not pass this data on without your consent and delete it as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected.

6. External links and social media

This website contains links to external services, in particular to the author's Instagram profile and to online shops (such as Amazon). We have no influence on the data processing of these providers; their respective privacy policies apply.

These links are only followed when you actively click on them. Personal data is only transmitted to the respective provider once you are on the target page.

  • the right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)

To exercise your rights, an informal message to the contact address above is sufficient.

8. Supervisory authority and right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority in Switzerland is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern (edoeb.admin.ch).

Users from the EU or the EEA may also contact the data protection supervisory authority of their respective country.
